Watery Wednesday #6: Marin Headlands

17 Mar

My entry for this week comes from Marin Headlands.  Here’s a short text from Marin Headlands website:

Welcome to the Marin Headlands! One of the most unique parks in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Marin Headlands covers various types of histories from the Miwok Indians to the Military, including historic Fort Barry and Fort Cronkhite, the NIKE Missile site and the 150 year-old Point Bonita lighthouse. Other attractions include vast hiking trails, dog friendly Rodeo Beach, and astonishing views of the coast and the city. The explosion of wildflowers in the spring and raptor migration in the fall fill the headlands with year round excitement.

The Marin Headlands is an example of one of the last open spaces still available in the Bay Area for visitors to enjoy.

I am guessing that the red roofs were once military barracks.

WATERY WEDNESDAY page features more water images, go and visit.

I’m thinking you’re right about the buildings. But what a coastline! I could shoot there for days. Actually if I ever got there, I might just decide to stay. I’m not at all sure I could leave. Just gorgeous!

What a beautiful scene. I would really like to visit that area someday, but I don’t know when we’ll venture that far west.

Looks like a great place and you have captured it well but the red houses spoil the beautiful scene.

    Oh so beautiful!
Can’t you just imagine what the whole coastline looked like at one time before development came – it would have been gorgeous! I’m glad there’s a little left to enjoy.

My Watery Wednesday post is at Carletta’s Captures.

That’s a military base? Wow – not bad duty to be stationed there! I’ll bet the hiking trails mentioned are well used. What a great location.

Is that some cliff with the brown color? That’s a wonderful sight and be standing over on that elevation.

PS, the spidey on your last post is amazing, couldn’t just imagine how it slipped back out without anyone noticing it. I got lost yesterday here when I was supposed to be commenting on your World entry but I got hooked with some of your interesting pages. 🙂 great blog i’d say.

Beautiful view! I could just sit (or lie down) where you were for hours. And how come your armed forces seem to find the best places for bases? 🙂

    Wonderful WW photo!

You are at a perfect spot to shoot this view. The red roofs looks attractive, the blue waters so clear, and the harmony of green and brown looks pleasing in the eyes. Great WW entry.

I played too, one of the paradise of the Philippines is my entry.

Hey, I know that beach! It’s a favorite with my husband’s San Francisco relatives – they’ve brought us there on several visits. My kids, who are used to the Mediterranean, couldn’t get their heads around the idea that this was a no swimming beach.

If they were military barracks it would have been a good place to be posted for a while! Lovely picture.
