Photo Hunt #99: Anniversary

10 Sep

This week’s theme totally stumped me. I found myself facing a brick wall. What to post was the nagging question. Not wanting to pass this week’s game, I decided to share with you what we did on our ANNIVERSARY this year.
263
Our anniversary fell on a Tuesday. On Monday, we worked half day and drove to Monterey for a quick getaway. We had tapas for dinner not too long after dropping our bags in the hotel room. On our anniversary itself, we decided to have a simple lunch at RED HOUSE CAFE located in the heart of downtown Pacific Grove, which came highly recommended by friends. And for good reasons.
264
For my lunch, I opted to get the daily special, which consists of half sandwich and a soup. That day the soup was a creamy broccoli soup – which was perfect for that rainy, cold day – and a it’s-not-your-lunchbox-kind chicken salad sandwich. I must say that this combination is so perfect. The chicken salad is meant for adult palate, very tasty and not too creamy (mayonnaise-y)

Hubby had calamari steak sandwich and orso salad. I had a bite and half of the sandwich and I’ll tell you all the good words from previous customers were with good basis. Menu is here.

And after that filling lunch, we decided to drive back to Monterey and browse the stores along Cannery Row – rain notwithstanding. Needless to say, it was one memorable anniversary and we didn’t break the bank in the pursuit of a good time.

It’s been too long since I have been to Monterey. To many places to visit and revisit, too little time.
Those photos of Malta make me think there is yet another place I would like to visit, unlikely, though.

The Red House Cafe is a favorite of ours, too. We always have at least one lunch there when we visit Monterrey. (We usually sit at the outside tables so we can watch our bikes.) Wishing you many more Happy Anniversaries!
