Watery Wednesday #45:

A week before Chinese New Year, two years ago, I found myself in Singapore on a 12-hour layover.  Yes, 12 hours.  Thankfully, Changi Airport and I’m guessing Singapore Tourism Board/Dept has a free city tour for people with 6 hours or more of layover.  All you need to sign up is a boarding pass and off to city tour you go.

The city tour also includes a free cruise on Singapore River on boats like this.  We enjoyed the city too much that we stayed 3 days before going back home.

Watery Wednesday comes weekly.  Join us and show your water images, here.

My World #59: Caricaturist

I’ve always been fascinated by caricatures.  Always wanted to have my own caricature done.  Never really gotten it.  I saw this guy by the waterfront, where the tourists go.  May be next time.  And with these prices, I think I should get one done.

Photo Hunt #70: Average

The whole time I was growing up I constantly hear the need to have an average of 8 hours of sleep a day for healthy body.  Here’s how some people get to that average.

They fall asleep on the rug.

On the couch!

And in their cars.

Sky Watch #76:

It was a hot September day all over the bay area and so we trooped to the city where the temperature is usually much cooler than anywhere else, with the exception of the coastal areas.  On this day there was a 20-degree difference in our temperature and in order to cool off we drove out to the city where I found a father teaching his daughter the basics of photography.  I thought they would make a fine subject with our hazy sky over the Golden Gate in the background.

This image has that “wish you were here moment” written all over it, don’t you agree?

window views and doors too #8:

I believe this is Trengganu Street in the heart of Singapore Chinatown (it has been two years since my visit so pardon the momentary amnesia).  The street has been converted into pedestrian mall.  It is lined on both sides by shop houses.  As the name suggests, shop houses are houses that are used both as a shop on the ground floor and residences on the  upper floor.

I read somewhere that these shop houses were renovated for tourism purposes.  Second image is a little close up of the the colorful windows of the shop  houses.

Skywatch#75:

“No rain in the forecast………until tomorrow.” That’s what I heard on the radio today as I drive to work.  I don’t need to hear that no rain is expected today, because for the first time in a week or so we are bathed in glorious sunshine and up there is nothing but blue skies and for decorations some wispy white clouds.

The picture above shows  a summer blue sky.  This is a church that I always pass by on the way to Sebastopol, this area’s main apple growing region – gravenstein apple.

Window Views and Doors too #7:

If you have visited Vegas, my money is on the fact that you have taken photos of this, posed here, and marveled at all this.

Love it or hate it, Vegas seem to have everything for almost any body.  For instance someone like me who would try to wrestle the one arm bandit for an hour and then tire of the experience.  What else does this great city have for me?  It has plenty.  It has eats and shows and most of all a lot of free entertainment, like this place in the Venetian where an amateur photog and a blogger would be content to while the hours away until the call of the buffet comes knocking.

I may never get to see the real Venice, but at least I had Vegas :)

If you want to see more windows, real ones or not, head on to Teach Mary’s WINDOW VIEWS AND DOORS TOO.
