Signs, Signs #86:

02 Jan

Happy happy New Year fellow bloggers. We had a successful year sharing SIGNS in 2012. May it continue to inspire us to hunt for more SIGNS this 2013. Cheers!

First off, pardon the blurry image. I was trying to be covert in performing the task of photographing this sign/label on a frozen duck at an Asian grocery store. Somehow, I felt that they weren’t too friendly with people bringing camera inside the grocery store and shooting at random merchandise so I was shooting and running without much attention to the quality of the image.

Anyway, what struck me about this label is the word BUDDHIST. Now we don’t just see halal meats (for the Muslims) and koshers (for the Jews), now we also have specific meats for Buddhists? Just curious!

i was thinking that maybe this duck is not for Buddhists–could it be that this duck was raised by a Buddhist? hahaha a vegan duck?:p

How interesting! I’d love to know more. I’m probably totally off-base, but I would have thought Buddhists would be Vegetarians. Interesting post and I appreciate people who take stealth pictures ;>) (cuz then I know I’m not the only one who does that!)…..Happy New Year.

Maybe the sign means “a sensible duck” – one who has a head on its shoulders! (comes with head on and feet on) tee-hee

Maybe it just means it is a blessed duck? Head and feet on – meaning the whole duck has been blessed? But then I get into the tangle of eating sacred food – which sounds like a “no-no”! Fascinating sign!

I’m intrigued about the duck being Buddhist.

I thought buddhists were vegetarian… but then, so are ducks….

(and it has been a great year, hasn’t it?!)
