I was photographing it when he came in to say the artwork needed some shadows. After he was done I couldn’t tell where he put the shadows. I don’t have the artist’s eye, I’m afraid.

For this week’s combined themes, I again went to the oldies folder and pulled out these shots. If you are with me and my blogs for years, you’d probably seen these shots. I beg your indulgence then. However, these photos fit the combined theme so perfectly.
Children and children at heart scoop water by their bare hands and hurl it at each other for an impromptu water fight.
Shots were from a family camping trip at Cabin 4 1/2 by Kings River, July 2007.

So many reasons to love the City by the Bay. The views from the hills to the bay are nonpareil; the foodscene is delicious and the variety is extensive; the many outdoor spaces are available when the sun decides to shine; the different neighborhoods that feature different cultures and of course the friendly and quirky citizens who call this gorgeous city home.
On our 2009 trip to NYC, we took the subway everywhere we went. One day we decided to just ride the subway and take random stops. We stopped near Central Park, the subway stop was 81st Street, I believe. That’s where I took these tiled murals.
When travelling in a foreign land, my rule is to try everything local and steer clear of American chain stores. However, the advertising of McDonalds in Barcelona would zap one’s resolve to stay away from anything American and try if their version of your Micky D coffee is the same as the ones they offer in Barcelona.
For the record, I did go in the store for a little iced tea :). The ones they serve stateside is far sweeter than the iced tea they offer in Barcelona.
