Monday Mural #10

21 May

Chinatown mural
Another example of my walk-by shooting. Taken last summer in Chinatown (SF) as I was running errands. I had given almost no thought to shooting it. But I was attracted to the vibrant colors. When I go back, I’d like to rephotograph this and take my time doing so and maybe the artist’s name is inscribed somewhere in the artwork.

MONDAY MURAL.

How unusual with that inset piece! Nice catch.

The colours are very bright and attractive, but I don’t like that inset bit.

There’s a lot going on here. Dueling dragons holding a crystal ball with writing on it; a buddha-like figure with his third eye glowing; a cartoon character writing peace and love; roiling waters; possible phoenix rising from the water. Very mysterious and appealing. Hope you do find the name of the artist and an explanation of this piece. Thanks, Ewok, for participating in this week’s Monday Mural.

This is certainly an appropriate mural for Chinatown. I, too, like the wonderful colors.

Yup, except the insert of peace + love, that’s all Chinese… including the primary colors. Looks great on the brick wall.

[Ewok, I’ve tried many times to visit and was blocked. Today I got lucky… šŸ™‚ ]

I wish I could blow it up and see the inset in more detail. It is so Banksy-style! Love both works!

Your post today gives me a two-fer and a smile. A lovely mural in a location I have actually been lucky enough to visit. Wish we could have spent more time in SF when we were there.
