On our 2009 trip to NYC, we took the subway everywhere we went. One day we decided to just ride the subway and take random stops. We stopped near Central Park, the subway stop was 81st Street, I believe. That’s where I took these tiled murals.

Gorgeous mosaics. I’ve never taken the NYC subway, but I know that the Paris metro often has exhibits related to what can be found above ground. Cities are so clever. Thanks for your contribution to this week’s Monday Mural.

what a pleasant mural!
i can just imagine the artist/s painstakingly put one tile after the other to create such masterpiece!
incidentally, my recent post is something about mural & street art too 🙂

Just like the train stops here in LA, each station depicts different theme. We have one at Universal City station and I have seen them painstakingly putting the tiles one piece at a time.
This has great living creatures in the ocean floor.

I have no artist skills with my hands and I am always amazed with painted an tiled murals. This one is no exception.

I’ve posted a NYC subway mosaic mural too… and this one is equally wonderful.
Ewok, I don’t know how I got into your blog today; I’ve been trying and trying… but all WordPress blogs are mostly blocked for me. To answer your question, yes, my fundraiser was for Sidney’s cause – he introduced me to it. 🙂

Probably the most famous subway stop in all of NYC. Great shots, beautiful mosaics!
