My World #127: Wildcat Canyon Regional Park

One of the nearest regional parks and one of my fave spots for a hike during the spring and summer months because of the availability of cherries and blackberries.

Two Saturdays ago we decided to take a little hike up the hill to check out if the blackberries are ready for picking yet and if there were some left over cherries. We knew the cherries were past their season, but the blackberries we knew peaked in August.

I went ahead and brought the camera in case there weren’t any berries to be picked.

Some of the shots I took on that walk:

Haven’t seen this pattern on an agave plant before, have you?

The berries weren’t all ready yet, the ones that were black were a bit tart still.

Watery Wednesday #114:

We were window shopping for yard accessories to spruce up our backyard. We stopped by this one place where they sell fountains and sculptures and in between looking, I was also snapping photos. Here are my wet shots for this week’s WATERY WEDNESDAY.

Photo Hunt #136: Near

Near Las Vegas lies this amazing place called VALLEY OF FIRE STATE PARK.

Valley of Fire State Park is the oldest state park in Nevada, USA. It covers an area of 34,880 acres (14,120 ha) and was dedicated in 1935. It derives its name from red sandstone formations, formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs. These features, which are the centerpiece of the park’s attractions, often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun’s rays.

Valley of Fire is located 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Las Vegas, at an elevation between 2,000–2,600 feet (610–790 m). It abuts the Lake Mead National Recreation Area at the Virgin River confluence. It lies in a 4 by 6 mi (6.4 by 9.7 km) basin. [wiki]

Petroglyph 4
You’ll enjoy the red rocks and the wonderful rock formations. There are amazing petroglyphs too.

So remember when you go to visit Vegas don’t forget to allot time to see these rocks. It’s near the city of sin yet feels lightyears away.
