Sky Watch #149: Summer Blues

21 Jul

On Monday’s post for MY WORLD, I showed what we saw while hiking and berry picking. Today for SKYWATCH I will show you the summer blues skies on that beautiful Sunday.

These are feathery seed pods, they are abundant here but I don’t know what they’re called.

A solitary dried thistle in a sea of dried grass makes a perfect foreground for the blue skies.

Shooting directly into the sun 🙂

This dead tree has been standing on its spot for as long as I can remember.

No reason for taking this picture. It was a whim.

SKYWATCH is a weekly gathering of sky lovers and sky watchers. Join us.

I don’t think I have ever seen those feathery seed pods before. They look very soft and fluffy.

It doesn’t get any bluer than those first two shots. I love the way the seed pods and grasses look against the gorgeous sky. The other shots are great too. A perfect day!

What a lovely variety of blues. I was partway through writing a comment on your chilly July 13 San Francisco skies when I lost it somehow. Anyway, I sure am glad we took some sweaters on our recent trip to northern CA.

What a nice selection of your shots you have shared with us this week. I think I like the one with the lone thistle best with the “tree on a whim” as second. They are all nice though. Genie

The first picture, I thought they are larvas zoomed in. I don’t know what they’re called either. You have pretty clear and magnificent photos here. I like the focus of the big tree.
