It was a gloomy twilight when we arrived at the beachside hotel.
The lack of “good” sunset to photograph led me to seek out other photo subjects of interests, the surfer/s is one of them.

You may not have gotten a ‘good’ sunset, but I like your picture of the sea and clouds very much. The surfer is also a wonderful picture. I wonder if he caught any waves?

I like the surfer at a distance. He looks a little like an avatar in a computer game. The water is always such interesting subject matter even without sunsets. 🙂

No sunset by the ocean can be “bad!” I think you just had a wandering eye…

Seamless. Including the surfer. He looks like a cross between a human and a very well exercised seal. 😉
Nice get-away. I love the west coast, which agrees with me in oh, so many ways!

Gloomy or not, the sea always keeps moving and those breakers look promising too. Hope you had a great holiday.
You are so right, most of our trip was drive-by shooting with the ever ready camera in my lap. You can see the shot I cropped to cut off the bonnet of our car. Not really easy shooting on such a bumpy road.

What a gorgeous spot and beautiful photos. The colors are so muted and lovely. I don’t find it the least bit gloomy…it’s just perfect.

We must take what the circumstances provide. Actually, I rather like the subtle sunset.

You need to come up to the Pacific Northwest at this time of year if you really want to see gloomy. (We have our golden/blue days too, but when it is gray it is gloomy). Your pictures of sunset and water are actually quite lovely.

Though you had no sunset for these photos they still look great. I hope you had great weather to enjoy that lovely beach on your holiday.
