Sky Watch #115: November 3rd Sky

04 Nov

The sky at about 7:30 am showcasing the glow from the sunrise that I missed.
We had a lovely 80-degree November day with the sky already in full glorious blue at about 9:30 am, taken at the train station.
I spotted a portion of the rainbow on the drive home at about 5:30 pm.

Isn’t that rainbow in the last shot called a sundog or something like that? I can’t remember exactly now! Wonderful views though

Marvelous captures! The first one is a wonderful way to start the day! The path of clouds across the sky look very much like ones that we have had lately! And what a lovely “bite” of rainbow! I love it! Hope you have a beautiful weekend with lots of lovely skies!

Lovely sunrise, and the touch of a rainbow is lovely, and yes, Tricia, I looked in Wiki pedia, and it is called a sundog. However, I like Sylvia’s description much better, “a bite of rainbow.”

What a grand series of November skies. That bit of a rainbow is so beautiful. I keep looking upward in hopes of seeing one, but so far I have not had any luck. The glow in your first shot is lovely.

Beautiful skies and very nicely captured. We won’t see 80 degrees for at least 7 months now, although just to our south they may see it this weekend.

One of the neat things about following memes is the things you learn. I learned from SkyWatch that the little rainbow in your third sky is called a sundog or parhelion! šŸ™‚

I think you had a beautiful day! I agree with Francisca that the partial rainbow is a sundog. I know this because I posted one a few months ago also calling it a partial rainbow …and a BUNCH of people told me it was a sundog. šŸ™‚ Oh, and then I Googled it yo make sure. LOL

The first one is so delicatie … a real beauty!
But the last one is my favourite. I don’t think it’s a part of a rainbow. I think it is a sundog. They are hard to catch one photo sometimes, but this one is great.

Our temps have been in the 90’s, not typical of Autumn.

    The rainbow is simply gorgeous!
