Sky Watch #91:

20 May

Highway 395 in the Eastern Sierra area is  a scenic stretch of roadway.  The passing scenery didn’t take away from my skywatching.

The photos are snapped around the Mono Lake area, a little bit of the lake is seen on second image.

Eastern Sierra, Memorial Day Weekend 2008.

Sky Watch is a weekly gathering of sky lovers and sky watchers.

These photos are great! I especially like the first one with the threatening skis and the road leading right into it. I hope you had someone else to hold the wheel while you were shooting! 🙂

Beautiful photos. Have you written anything else about Mono Lake? We were there years ago (preblog/precamera) and thought it one of the most interesting places we’d ever seen.

What vivid scenes! I loved this highway when I was there last summer. The sky wasn’t quite as dramatic as in your shots, though. The eastern Sierras are like another world!

I love the high desert. I’ve been to Mono Lake and the tufas are amazing. When I lived in LA I often felt bad about stealing water from that area. – Margy
