Watery Wednesday #56: Lake Merritt

27 Apr

Lake Merritt has been called the Jewel of Oakland.  A unique fresh and salt-water lake, the largest such lake located within an urban area consisting of 3.4 miles around the circumference of the lake, covering 155 acres of land. The depth of Lake Merritt varies upon how much water is allowed to filter in from the Estuary and upon rain water intake. [infor from oakland site]

It is a 5-minute drive from work.  My walking buddies and I have talked about driving to the lake and walking there during our lunch hour.  Still havent’ done that yet.

I took this shot three Fridays ago after an early dinner (sushi – see photo hunt photo below) to celebrate hubs co-workers’ b/days.  Around this side of the lake are eats and pubs and the side I showed you are the apartments.  Who wouldn’t want to live there?

More you ask?  Go and visit WATERY WEDNESDAY headquarters.

Its easy to see why Merritt River is referred to as a jewel. The shinning reflections in its waters do have a jewel appearance.
