Watery Wednesday #7: The Mighty Colorado River

24 Mar

For this week’s post, I am digging into a 4-year-old archives of Grand Canyon photos.  I found one that had water on it; an aerial view of the Grand Canyon with the mighty Colorado River traversing the canyon.

Get wet with more water photos here.

What an amazing aerial of the Grand Canyon. I’ve never been but always wanted to go. Is that the actual color of the river?

Oh yes, this is an untouched photograph. Of course I was shooting through a glass window. The river changes color from real muddy to this to a toothpaste blue color, which led the pilot/tour guide to comment that they called that part the toothpaste river.

What a vast expanse of beauty!
I was wondering about the color of the water as well.

As I clicked to leave I saw your comment about the color – I’d love to see it as toothpaste blue! 🙂

My post is on my photoblog: Carletta’s Captures.

When I see this photo I begin sing Tina Turner`s old song: “River deep, mountain high.” 😉

Exceptional photo. i already commented on one Grand Canyon shot below but this one is even better. It just is one of the world’s great wonders. Must be very chalky ground to make such a strange colour on the water.

What a mighty river! This is such a beautiful scenery. I was picturing you standing at the Canyon to take this impressive photo. It was a relief to see your comment about the pilot :). Great shot.

You really can’t go wrong with a shot of something this spectacular. And you did it up perfectly! I’d love to have the chance to go aerial with my camera — anywhere — but especially around a wonder like this one.
    Great job!

Spectacular shot. I’ve flown over the canyon before but at a much higher elevation. Great view you’ve given us!

What a beautiful view of the canyon. I’ve often seen pictures taken from the rim, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better aerial picture.

I never did get to jump in a helicopter when I was there…

I had to settle for a few photos from the side, without much of a downwards angle 🙂

    Maybe next time though!
