My World 11: Driving In Fog Over Bay Bridge

29 Dec

Driving In Fog Over Bay Bridge, originally uploaded by airam94564.

Show Your World is a weekly meme headed by a group of wonderful people. If you want to take a peek at other people’s world or to show your own world, check out the main page.

There is really nothing to this photo today. I am simply showing you a shot of our infamous fog as it covers majority of the Bay Bridge, the one that connects San Francisco to Oakland and other East Bay cities such as Berkeley. This is a winter snap, but fog is known to hang around all year round.

I hope every one had a wonderful Christmas. Over at my world, I had a quiet one. My near 30 strong family members that live around a 10 mile radius and I did not have our traditional Christmas luncheon. For the first time in over a decade, we all had something else planned this year. Instead, I am hosting a New Year’s Day potluck luncheon for the family, so I am hoping my New Year is as boisterous as my Christmas was hushed.

Best wishes to the coming New Year. May 2009 be better for all of us.

Ewok: That is the sky invading your space on the foggy bridge.

Not much fun for driving, but I love the hooting of the fog-horn. Nice evocative shot
Happy New Year to you and yours.

Gotta love that fog! We get fog too, even though we’re inland. 😉 But probably not nearly as much as you get.

    Happy New Year!

Except for the sides, I would say it looks like a bridge in New York! Same abysmal traffic. Love all the fog.

Ah, have been over that bridge many times when it looked just like that! Beautiful, mysterious, but can be a pain if you’re in a hurry to get somewhere. We do have our share of that mysterious fog here in Seattle where we live very close to the harbor. The snow is completely gone! Temps went up, the wind came in and 36 hours later we were looking at green grass and blue skies! Go figure! Thanks for a really lovely shot. Hope you have a truly great New Years!

I’ve heard you can practically set your watch by when the fog rolls into San Francisco. Something about the way the mountains channel the prevailing air currents in sort of a lake effect — without the snow.

I’d think that being on a bridge like this one in a fog too thick to see through would be a little unnerving. But I guess that’s what guardrails are for right?

Great shot! Fog always looks so spooky to me but I’ll bet crossing that bridge doesn’t look as scary since you can’t see anything when you look down. 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful New Years with your family.

Isn’t that nerve racking crossing in the fog? LOL I get nervous driving over the Mackinac Bridge here, especially when it is snowy or windy. I have never crossed in fog though.

    Happy New Year.

Nice photo. We don’t get too much fog like that in Oklahoma.

We had gotten about everything here just before Christmas – snow, freezing rain, fog, high winds…. I’m beginning to think of Al Gore now 🙂

Fog could be very dangerous if you don’t know how to handle it. I can’t imagine Christmas without family near me. Happy new year.

That would scare me to death driving across a bridge and not be able to see the other side. Cool picture though. Hope you have a wonderful New Years!

Those moments always make me realize I am not alone, we are in this pea soup called life together. Beautiful shot.

Lovely photos of fog, which can be hard to capture. Archtypical San Francisco.

I never got to see the San Fransisco fog, although it rolled over the hills when our flight departed. Gfreat shot – and it remind me of a Stephen King story (The Mist), who knows what’s hiding in that fog 😉 Happy New Year to you 🙂
